Not all STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)  education takes place in the classroom. AAUW members provide community programs that break down stereotypes about STEM and show girls that intellectual skills grow over time, regardless of gender. These programs create an environment where girls are encouraged to expand their knowledge and ability in STEM through fun and educational activities. And they foster girls’ excitement for STEM, rather than dim it.

Our AAUW Branch has taken an interest in promoting STEM career awareness. On our website we are featuring STEM information and also STEM resources for girls and their families.

Our AAUW Branch in partnership with Delaware County Community College Women in STEM Program recognizes and encourages girls interested in STEM careers.

STEM Career Resources

Even though women make up nearly half of all employees in the U.S. economy, they hold only 29% of the jobs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). That’s a missed opportunity since STEM jobs represent some of the fastest-growing — and highest-paid — occupations in the U.S.

The good news is that representation of women in STEM has increased over the years, according to a recent survey. But gender bias still holds women back. CLICK –  5 TIPS FOR CLOSING THE STEM GENDER GAP.
