About Us

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is the nation’s leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls. Since our founding in 1881, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political. The Eastern Delaware County Branch of AAUW was organized as the Lansdowne Branch in 1933 and reorganized in 1971 under the new named to represent 34 surrounding communities in Delaware County.

Eastern Delaware County BANNER

Former members Aletha Sciubba and Susan Broderick collaborated on the idea, design, and sewing of the branch banner. The anchor design ties Eastern Delaware County Branch of AAUW, and the membership’s communities, to the county’s location on the Delaware River. It also represents the anchoring of the branch’s members to each other in friendship, support, and interest in the goals of AAUW since the branch was organized in 1933.
