STEM Scholar Academy
The purpose of the STEM Scholar Academy is to create a network of recipients of the STEM Scholar Recognition Award and high school girls interested in STEM. Academy participants are invited to participate in hands-on STEM workshops, learn about higher education related to STEM and interact with women in STEM careers. Parents and Educators are invited to participate and learn about the impact of women in STEM.

Delaware County Community College
Our 2019 STEM Scholar Academy program held at the Delaware County Community College, Marple Campus featured STEM Scholar hands-on workshops in engineering, biology and chemistry. Family members learned about STEM career resources, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. The Honorable Jennifer O’Mara, Pennsylvania House of Representatives shared information on legislative initiatives concerning higher education and student debt. The Academy ended with a Women in STEM Career Panel led by Sandra Devenny, Professor of Biology and Advisor to the Women in STEM program at Delaware County Community College.

2018 STEM Scholar Academy November 10
Our first STEM Scholar Academy was held in November 2018 at the Delaware County Community College, Marple Campus. STEM Scholars and their family members participated in the inaugural program. STEM Scholars experienced hands-on workshops: Blasting into the Past, Investigating Muscle Contraction, and Rainbow Colors. Family members learned about STEM career resources, financial aid, and scholarship opportunities. A women in STEM career panel provided an opportunity to share their STEM career stories plus answer questions from Academy attendees.
